Inquisitive Look
We were driving through a dry riverbed with high walls where we suddenly noticed this leopard. He was sitting stunned and motionless on our eye level only about three meters away. The eyes of a leopard are exceptional from color and unforgettable at such a special close contact. Leopards are very rare and extremely difficult to find. They are often hidden high up in trees to where they drag their prey far away from other carnivores who are all too eager to steal it. He enjoyed the early morning sunlight that fell through the leaves of the trees. The soft sunbeams accentuated once again his beautiful fur, which we are familiar with in all kinds of imitations. Frequently used in the fashion industry for lingerie, prêt à Porter or haute couture.

Ephemeral life
Ephemeral life is the first part of the biggest project Tom has ever worked on. He has been working on this top series of wildlife photography for 6 years now. The second part and accompanying book will follow in 2023... Shooting started already in 2017. His approach and vision is very different from the general documentary wildlife photography we often see. Because of the highly protected national parks in which he has worked, substantial investments were necessary to be able to work with specially adapted vehicles, rangers and permits. Through his artistic approach and technical experience, this resulted in very dynamic work with exceptional perspective.

TOM D. JONES
HASSELBLAD MASTER
The absolute freedom of the animal is key to me, so there is no animal in my series that is fed, lives in a private reserve or in any form of captivity. I prefer to work in Kenya's national parks where these animals still can live and travel freely. Because of my good connections and close cooperation with locals built up over the last few years, I was able to quickly respond to the exceptional and unpredictable circumstances I was looking for.The special approach and perspective I use in most of the pictures forced me to get very close to the animals. However, most wild animals do not tolerate strangers in their comfort zone. This often entailed a great many risks but above all a great sense of humility because of man’s vulnerability. This series should accentuate the unique aspect of our wildlife and command the respect that these creatures deserve. We have to understand that we are only here for an ephemeral time and we can only use the planet like any other creature. Still, it is sad to see how we deal with this treasure put at our disposal for a while and then passed on to future generations.
